Base by CCG/Zipple

I fitted this under Historical even though the dress type is still commonly worn on special occasions. But it is kinda old fashioned, much like the Volendam Klederdracht clothes are in The Netherlands. Except this dress from Suriname is a little more colourful and happy looking. I recoloured the base (Medley) and made this pixel doll for a collab at Glam, to make dolls from around the world. I wanted to do something unusual. And not European.

What I really like is the headdress scarf thingy. It does cover the head and hair, but it does so in a flamboyant way. I had to add a male counterpart, and for the life of me I could not come up with a good outfit. I almost went contemporary or military... But decided to go for a modest simple outfit, and no shoes. It's like he is saying "Look how colourful she is: I don't have to try and upstage her anyway".

I think I will retry the dress type again on another base.
