Mary Wollstonecraft was an Englis writer in the 18th century. She was one of the first women to write a book which argued that women were not inferior to men, something a lot of people believed at that time. Back in those days education was not as widespread as it is these days, and lots of children didn't go to school or not for long. But girls often didn't go to school at all, regardless of whether their parents could afford it. Mary said that if girls were given the same opportunities and chances, they could be just as good as boys.
Nowadays I often read how girls do way better in school than boys. So good for Mary for being right!
