What exactly is 'the dolling community'? Does it even exist? When people talk about the dolling community they often mean all dollers who doll right now. Some people may mean all dollers who use a certain type of style, or base or technique, but it always refers to this moment in time. Because once dollers disappear, they are quickly forgotten. And dollers do disappear easily. So what does that mean for an individual doller who is hoping to get recognised by peers?
Dae's Musings
First I have to admit, I love forums. Second, I have to say that I can't keep up with registering at every site that demands it. If I have to register to interact, you'd better be offering me something worthwile. It is what I keep in mind for Randomby, and it is what I keep in mind for The Manor. You do have to register to play games or keep a blog at Randomby. You do not have to register to see my dolls or read my little musings.
And, by the way, I also love unusual contests.
Fairytopia, the forum Xena started at her site The Dollery, is soon closing and moving to a new url. Xena/Mel already moved her site to Pix Paradise, and has plans to start a new forum, like Fairytopia, there. It still feels like a goodbye, but I think it was the right decision for many reasons.
Defining Dolling
To doll or not to doll, that has become a verb. But what is it?
- Dolling is the creation of a pixel art or digital art human(oid) figure, for the specific purpose of showing them on the internet.
- Someone who makes dolls is not a 'dollmaker' but a doller or in some circles a 'dollier'.
- A dollmaker refers to an internet page that allows for a drag and drop or click and drag dress up game

Ninique has made a wonderful dollmaker, where you can add your own props very easily. Though I'd recommend not uploading dozens of recolours of the same top (...) it is a great way to contribute to a dollmaker. I added a few props as well!
